Gwiz!

Today Gwiz the science wizard visited our school. He was AMAZING! He showed us lots of 'magic tricks' and we had to work out how he did it.

He turned clear liquid into ink instantly. We figure out it happened after a certain amount of time (19 seconds).
Gwiz also turned liquid into a warm solid, just by tapping it with his wand! But we worked out that he had crystals on the end of his wand which turned the liquid into a solid.

Kate turned the blue flame, yellow! She was a fantastic wizard!

Gwiz put dry ice all over twisties and then we got to eat one!

 Sophie the dragon!

Look out for the explosion Gwiz!
We had an awesome afternoon, thanks Gwiz for showing us all our science tricks!

Emily showed us two types of crystals; smokey quartz and quartz.

Xavier's reading

Today Xavier read to us 'Emergency'. We loved the book he chose and the way he read it :) It gave us an idea to make our own version of the story... we will keep you up dated.

Fabulous fractions!

This week we are working on fractions in maths.
The lions had lots of fun playing fraction dominos.

Emily's rock

Emily brought in a rock to show the class. It had really interesting crystals and it was smooth to touch. The rock felt like glass and had lots of cool colours. We can't wait to see what she brings in next! Thanks Em :)

Welcome Joss!

Today was Joss's first day at school. It was her 5th birthday so we sang her happy birthday. Joss was kind enough to bake a cupcake for everyone. Thank you Joss, they were delicious and welcome to our class!

Muddy Friday

Last Friday, lots of kids were playing rugby at lunch. They had lots of fun but... got very muddy in the process. Finn even had to have a wash in our class sink. We all had a giggle!

Our tree writing

Timber! Timber! The branch hit the school. It was scary. Me, Sophie and Nicole were screaming when the branch hit the school.
By Cassie

Crash! Bang! It looked like a tornado when the tree came down. ZZzzzz went the chainsaw. “Timber” yelled Romahapa School.
By Finn

Wow! Yesterday some men were cutting a tree down and it was huge. Everyone was screaming and laughing.
By Xavier

Bang! Crash! Boom! The tree is falling down like a jet and a branch hit the office roof.
By Max

It was like a tornado when the tree came down. Crash! Bang! The girls screamed because it swept the people up too.
By Nga

Timber! Zzzzz. Crash, boom. The tree is gigantic. Some fell on the school. “Eeee” creaked the tree.
By Cooper

Crash! Bang! Ahhh. Sticks hit the school. Zzzz went the chainsaw. People giggled and screamed. The man chopping down the tree has special boots.

Today Cassie, Max, Hunter, Xavier, James and Cooper performed the 'Three Little Pigs'. We liked how Max (big bad wolf) landed in a pot of hot water. We also liked how they used the props and  created their houses.

Fun Friday maths

 Wow cool creative patterns!

The boys tried their hands at construction and built some very tall towers!
