School Camp!!

We had such a fantastic week at Camp Iona. The weather was great and we got to see some amazing places. Take a look at what we got up to!

 

 We had lots of fun at Elephant rocks. We found the creatures hidden within the rocks and climbed all over them.

We went to the art gallery and learnt about an artist who creates her work by knitting. This piece took over 5 years to create!

At Totara Estate we learnt about how the farm ran in the olden days. Totara Estate was the first farm in New Zealand to export its frozen meat.

We had a go at being 'swaggers' and sleeping under the stars.

On Thursday it was a lovely afternoon for a dip in the creek beside camp.

  

 

Mark Sommerset

When I was away on Waiheke Island I meet one of our favourite authors, Mark Sommerset. He wrote baa baa smart sheep and I love lemonade. Mark even wrote a special message in one of his books, for all of us at romahapa school!

Today we got two new class members; Ben and Ruby Inder. It is great to have both of you in our class!

Bertha and the Beeman!

Welcome back everyone! It is great to be back at school and working hard.

This week our big book is Bertha and the Beeman. The book contains lots of onomatopoeia, which we learnt are words that imitate sounds e.g. zoom, crash, buzz.

We created a large picture of Bertha and the Beeman with lots of bees around them saying onomatopoeia words.

 

 

 

 

 

The Lorax!

On Friday we watched the Lorax production put on by South Otago High School. It was fantastic to watch and groove along to the music :)

Firewise!

Yesterday Amy the fire-fighter came to school and taught us how to be firewise. We learnt what fire-fighter do and what we need to do in a fire.

It was Brooklyn's first day at school and she got to dress up as our class fire-fighter! I think you might need to grow into that uniform though! :)

Swimming!

This week we had school swimming. It was lots of fun and we each learnt to do new things in the water!
